SCIN Gallery is an independent London based Materials and Architecture Showroom that showcases the very best of contemporary and innovative materials for the architect and interior designer, it is the physical manifestation of its online Materials Database.
The Gallery, housed in a cool refurbished warehouse style building has an extensive materials library, an installation and event platform for the young and gifted to show the latest materials thinking and development , and 2 gallery floors presenting international companies with either material or architectural Components . Materials ranging from translucent concretes and new knotted yarns to soft porcelains and hybrid composites, sit alongside new acoustic panels, responsive external membrane technology, task lighting and the latest in photovoltaics.
The Companies within SCIN’s galleries range from UK quarried and produced stone to Swiss metal coated polymers to Italian Ironmongery using Vapour deposition machinery bought from NASA. Each Company has products and stories to tell that will capture the imagination of those that come. The SCIN Gallery is very much the case of the the Sum of the Parts being greater than the whole and we are only as good as the Materials , Components and Processes they find time after time.
This week, SCIN launch a new Materials and Architecture Gallery, in the presence of HM Queen she radiates in 8100 3D fekt pixels by Melissa Watts.
Scin will open with ‘ Fondle & Squeeze’, this is a chance to come and see some of the truly gifted material designers including invisible pattern from Alicia Tam, open her umbrella, step under and get a friend to photograph and see what happens; latest 3D printing to create a new building exoskeleton called Monocoque from Neri Oxman, knotted textiles by Emily Hiller and amazing new acostic panels from Feek.
In addtion for the more Architecturally minded, exquisite UK produced Stone and non scratch Italian ironmongery using rocket science technology and Dreamwall new panel Emphasis is on show.
Royal cocktails from 6pm (today) 20th September for EVERYONE that mentions ‘Dreamwallstyle’ The Official doors open 11-5pm onwards. Special opening 11-2 Sat 24th September
